The areas you are most likely to be burgled in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Sandwell

Thousands of homes were burgled in the Black Country last year, and properties were targeted in certain areas more than others. New police figures have revealed which areas in Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley and Sandwell have the highest crime rates.

The data shows the total number of burglaries that were carried out across the Black Country in the 12 months to November 2022, revealing statistically where homeowners are most likely to be victims of a break-in. Highest crime rates tend to be close to town centres and this is shown in the burglary figures, which will include some shop break-ins.

The Dudley Central policing area has the highest burglary rate in the Black Country. A total of 534 were reported in the area last year, more than one a day on average. Next on the list was West Bromwich, followed by Smethwick.

It comes after police forces were recently challenged to attend every burglary, something that has been suggested will be unachievable in the West Midlands where officers currently turn up to just over half of break-ins. Others areas with high burglary rates included Brierley Hill and the St Peter’s, Park and Graiseley policing area of central Wolverhampton.
